Earthquake in VirginiaYou don't hear about earthquakes striking the East Coast USA very often, but surprisingly there was a 5.9 in Virginia that was felt in places like Washington DC where they evacuated the Pentagon and the Capitol, as well as Philadephia, New York City and even Toronto. Based on reports so far, there were maybe a few cracked windows, but no injuries.

Hurricane Irene 2011?It looks like we could have a Hurrican Irene, or at least a Tropical Strom Irene. It is the ninth named storm of the season and multiple models suggest it will head straight toward South Florida. We shall see. The weather is not easy to predict.
